A little while ago i had some problems with an X9 shifter, i replaced the cabe and it decided never to work again. After following many threads on the internet on repairing it, i admitted defeat and gave up.
So i offered it for sale, spares or repair, along with some other bits and bobs out of my box.
A very charitable sounding STW member replied to my post and said if i posted to him, he would fix it and send it back to me. He claimed to have mucho experience in these matters, and even said the return postage would be FOC through his work.
A couple of emails and a couple of quid later it was with him.
A couple of other emails down the line and guess what ? ………….
thats right you guessed it ……… nothing !
Anyway, i havent lost anything really, only a knackered shifter.
He is an active member, (as little as a few hours ago), he just doesn want to reply to me.
Im not angry, just dissapointed.
If you want to know who it is then just look at my profile and activity. Just in case he decides that hes an expert on fixing Crank Bros wheels or something like that ! 😉

Junkyard has emailed me to say he cant fix it. Thats no prob because i couldnt either. he has also apologised for no getting back to me, and offered to return it.

I wonder why it says 1 week on the history then – guess it could be 1 wk and 6 days…. So he would have got it a day or 2 later after you posted it – so just over a week in his hands….

tbh, having a little dig where the person who can be easily identified and is a “local” and could be embarrassed after such a short period of time when they were trying to do you a favour is bad form.

Maybe fixing your shifter for free wasn’t on the top of his ‘to do’ list and was a little busy, fair enough if he was charging but what are gonna sell a knacked x9 shifter for? Nowt

If you think you and your noodly little tupance hapenny shifter are SO important that someone with a job, a life and their own fun to be had should jump to your tune and respond tout suite to your email and when he dosn’t it’s time to have a online strop, I’d imagine making frineds in the real world is not one of your strengths. A couple of months down the line if I hadn’t heard anything I’d have sent a “Dude, what’s up with the shifter? Any chance of an update?” email – not made an arse of myself on a internet forum.
